BEND, OR -- The Deschutes County District Attorney's Office said Wednesday a man recently arrested in Bend has been sentenced for his 5th DUII. Aaron Anderson, 54, was arrested in September for driving while intoxicated. He was sentenced Wednesday to 180 days in jail, five years of probation with a condition of no alcohol, lifetime Oregon Driver's License Suspension and a $2,000 fines in addition to court fines and fees. Deschutes County DA Patrick Flaherty says Anderson does not qualify for a prison sentence because of the length of time in between convictions. Wednesday's sentence was designed to provide the maximum period of supervision as well as a lengthy jail sentence.
Anderson's first DUII arrest in 1979 involved a fatality of a seven-year-old child.
