BEND, OR -- Despite the federal government shutdown, Deschutes County WIC Coordinator told KBNW News, "It is business as usual at WIC right now. The doors are open, everyone can come to their appointments and we encourage them to do so."
Spaulding said WIC if funded nationally through the USDA. However, each state has a little different way of handling those funds, and Oregon has a contingency in place. She adds, if the government shutdown continues, they will keep their doors open.
"We are defiantly open, without issue, through the end of the month. So, at least through October, there won't be an issue and there's already contingency plans in place even for further than October."
Deschutes County WIC has offices in Bend, Redmond, La Pine and Sisters.
