MADRAS, OR -- Motorists traveling from Madras to Portland should watch for slowdowns this weekend as crews continue to clean up fuel spilled following last month's tanker truck accident. On September 24th, the truck collided with an elk west of Warm Spring. The big-rig rolled on its side, slid roughly 400 feet, and dumped approximately 3,500 gallons of gasoline and 1,500 gallons of diesel.
The Department of Transportation said flaggers will be on site, and single lane closures can be expected Saturday and Sunday. ODOT has asked motorists to drive carefully along Highway 26 over the coming days.
