ROSEBURG, OR -- A southern Oregon judge has tossed out evidence prosecutors hoped to use against a Glide man accused of bringing an explosive device onto the campus of the VA Medical Center in Roseburg. The Douglas County Circuit Court judge said the homemade explosive, using soda cans, duct tape and gunpowder, was found in an illegal search of a backpack.
Joseph Eugene Campos, 20, was released from jail Tuesday, but charges of manufacturing and possessing a destructive device were not dismissed. Prosecutors are re-evaluating the case and another hearing is set next month.
