Springfield Man Charged With Beating Death Of Girlfriend
SPRINGFIELD, OR -- A Springfield man has been charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend after she was found fatally beaten. Robert Cromwell, 32, made a brief appearance in Lane County Circuit Court Monday. Police says he told hospital workers early Saturday that he had killed Casey Wright, 26. Cromwell was treated for minor, self-inflicted injuries.
Wright's body was found a short time later in a house the couple formerly shared. An autopsy conducted by the Lane County medical examiner's office found she died of blunt force head trauma. The woman's injuries likely were caused by a baseball bat found in the house.
