Holiday Greenery Bound For Veterans' Graves

SALEM, OR -- Remember, honor, and teach; those are the goals of the "Wreaths Across America program."  This weekend, the organization will place wreaths on veterans' graves at Arlington National Cemetery.  Volunteers will do the same at 800 cemeteries and veterans' memorials around the country, including a dozen in Oregon.
Civil Air Patrol Captain Roxanne Cole helps organize three ceremonies in Oregon.  She said Saturday's events offer a meaningful pause during a hectic time of year.

"We have a lot of programs for the living veterans and that’s very important.  But I think we need to remember the ones that have gone before us, and remember what they did, and why we are the country we are now."

Saturday's wreath ceremonies are open to the public.   A listing of all ceremony times and locations by state, along with sponsorship information, can be found On-Line.
