ELMIRA, OR -- Oregon State Police say a bicyclist was killed Wednesday afternoon when he made a left turn into the path of pickup truck pulling a horse trailer near Elmira. Investigators said the driver was unable to stop and struck the 57-year-old man. He was taken to a hospital in Springfield where he died. This marked the second bicycle fatality in a week in Oregon. A 55-year-old man crashed Saturday and died after running over a piece of lumber on the shoulder of a highway near Stayton.
OSP said five bicyclists were killed statewide in 2013.
