BEND, OR -- With fire season fast approaching, the Central Oregon Fire Chiefs Association has announced the closing of all burning across Deschutes County. Starting midnight on Sunday June 15th, both debris and agricultural burns will be prohibited. Bend Fire Deputy Chief Doug Kollermaier said that the primary concern is fires started by escaped debris. He added that the department has already responded to such incidents this year.
Local fire agencies expect burn season to resume in the late fall.
